PROCEDURE FOR SETTING UP YOUR OLD INTERNET CONNECTION, WHEN THERE IS A CHANGE IN THE INTERNET SETTINGS

Yesterday, when I was trying to install the WiFi server in my researcher1 login, I had installed WiFi successfully and continued working with my “Wired Connection”. But, when I restarted the system today morning, I was not able to get connected to the internet.

To restore back the connection, follow the procedure.

Procedure:

1) Link to the page http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/network-manager-dbg

2) Download the following packages for the system (Here, our system follows amd64 version).

    a) network-manager (= 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu3)

    b) libnm-util2 ( = 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu3)

    c) libnm-glib4 ( = 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu3)

    d) libnm-glib-vpn1 ( = 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu3)

3) After downloading these 4 packages, rather than double-clicking the file, Open Terminal and type this command for each of the downloaded package:

    sudo dpkg -i FILENAME

4) Restart the computer and you can find the icon back in its position.

The old “Wired Connection” is set up successfully.
